There’s a good chance that you’ve been asking yourself, “What is a microservice?”, recently. But why does it matter? Let’s look at the case of Amazon. For a company of Amazon’s size, they have a sizable IT team to support their operations. In an attempt to scale, this team came up with microservices.
As of now, Microservices are still in the process of being standardized. Going by the original definition, microservices were a pattern to architect a monolithic software system into smaller, more pluggable services. While not everyone will agree with this definition, what’s truly important is what an organization considers microservices to be. As such, it’s a good idea to begin early on the journey towards developing microservices.
Here are several criteria you can look at to determine if you should go with microservices or not.

Companies that are already using microservices should consider how their existing processes and systems are organized. By doing this, they can help focus their goals and understand whether their existing technology will support future development. Sometimes, it’s a good idea to look at the user stories for a program or product in order to keep development focused.

Many modern organizations have a relatively flat organizational structure. As a result, it might be easier to incorporate the microservice approach in a monolithic system than a highly structured, graphically organized system. Monolithic systems are much more complicated to architect when compared to microservices. For example, a monolithic system will always be more complicated to develop, deploy, and scale than a microservice architecture because systems that are more complex typically require more time, resources, and expertise to build. In simple terms, the monolith has more than one class of complexity.

Microservices require an organization to change their current procedures, processes, workflows, and so on. This change might require efforts to overcome obstacles like legacy code, architecture, and communication. Since microservices require even more development resources, companies that are currently using a monolithic system should consider whether or not they can afford to dedicate the resources to the microservice development process.

Google Maps is the perfect app for those who love to explore new places and get to know a new culture, but it can get tedious after awhile to click every damn time to go to the next map location. Google For a little while now, they’ve been testing out Google Maps for iPhone with a feature called Mark My Location. Now the latest version of the app has the latest feature available for both iPhone and iPad.
When you open Google Maps, you’ll see a new button located in the top-right corner of the screen, an arrow with a line and a dot, or more simply a dot on an arrow. At the bottom of the screen, there’s a small circle to the right of your location that shows you where you are and how much you’re away from your destination, too.
Through this feature, you don’t have to scroll through every single map location ever again. To be fair, the app is not only great for those who want to explore new places but for those who don’t want to waste time when driving, too.
The Mark My Location feature is available on the iPhone and iPad, and there’s a small arrow to the right of the location that will appear for a few seconds. Then when you come back, Google Maps will automatically bring up the next point on the map
